Research of Magnetic Field Distribution in the Working Area of Disk Separator, Taking Into Account an Influence of Materials of Permanent Magnets

Abstract: Based on the results of a numerical-field analysis of the distribution of the magnetic force field in the working area of the disk magnetic separator, designed to clean bulk substances from ferromagnetic inclusions, the influence of the magnetic material of the poles of the magnetic system on the field distribution is determined. A consistent study of two magnetic systems assembled on the basis of magnetic materials of different classes is carried out. The finite element method implemented in the COMSOL Multip… Show more

“…Paper [4] describes the process of upgrading a classic drum separator by changing the mode of operation of the feeder, as well as the design of the separating tank and its location; these solutions, however, improved the efficiency of detecting metallic inclusions only partially. An option to overcome these difficulties is to use different types of magnetic materials for permanent magnets [5]. However, this solution only slightly increases the proportion of metallic inclusions removed.…”

“…The structural scheme of the system of removal of metallic inclusions from bulk raw materials in the conveyor belt (Fig. 4) has been constructed, which, in comparison with similar systems [4,5], allows its joint work with the system of detection of metallic inclusions. It enables the exchange of data on the detected metals in raw materials.…”

“…To improve the efficiency of the electromagnetic mill, studies have been conducted aimed at tracking the movement of the working medium in the mill [5,6]. To improve the design of the electromagnetic mill so as to reduce energy consumption, various mills design solutions were proposed, mainly to ensure a uniform magnetic field inside the unit's mixing chamber to reduce electric losses [7][8][9][10][11]. However, it should be noted that the effect of the magnetic field on the properties of the material being ground during the operation of the electromagnetic mill has not been studied in the scientific literature.…”

“…However, development of cassiterite beneficiation techniques has been carried out using flotation, electro and bio-flotation [9]- [23]. Sometimes, cassiterite was also could be separated using different magnetic separation techniques [24]- [33]. Microwave pre-treatment and hydrometallurgical methods were adapted also to recover cassiterite mineral and extract the tin metal [34]- [41].…”
