“…Doxycycline is the preferred treatment for Rickettsiae and Ehrlichiae in small animals, as opposed to oxytetracycline 46 , 48 . Resistance to tetracycline in Enterococcus isolates was consistent with current results, which revealed a high resistance rate 1 , 4 , 49 , 50 , but a higher prevalence of tetracycline-resistant E. faecalis was obtained in the present study 51 53 . A study conducted in Tunisia between September 2011 and December 2011 showed that E. hirae species isolated from animal stools were resistant to tetracyclines, in accordance with the findings of this study 12 .…”

“…Due to the lack of effective vaccines and other green prevention and control technologies, food-borne zoonotic bacterial diseases are usually treated with antibiotics. However, excessive and/or improper use of antibiotics in livestock and poultry has led to an increase in antimicrobial-resistant and MDR bacteria worldwide, becoming a global concern for human and animal health ( Li et al, 2020 , Wang et al., 2021 , Yu et al., 2022 ). In this study, MDR K. pneumoniae was a serious phenomenon, as the bacteria showed a MDR rate of 87.88%—higher than the 22% MDR prevalence rate in Hong Kong, China, similar to the 85% rate in India ( Poudel et al, 2019 ), and lower than the 96.67% rate in a commercial broiler slaughter factory in Shandong ( Wu et al, 2016 ).…”

“…According to Na′s report, 35.9% of Enterococcus isolates from duck feces and carcasses from four slaughterhouses in southern Korea were MDR, 2.3% of which harbor the optrA gene (Na et al, 2019). Yu et al reported that 72.13% of Enterococcus isolates from broilers slaughterhouses in Tai'an, China, were MDR, with 18.03% being linezolid-resistant (Yu et al, 2022a). Notably, a vancomycin-resistant E. faecium was isolated from a transport crate in a chicken slaughterhouse in Germany (Savin et al, 2020).…”
