Reputation management in collaborative computing systems

Abstract: In collaborative systems, a set of organizations shares their computing resources, such as compute cycles, storage space or on-line services, in order to establish Virtual Organizations (VOs) aimed at achieving common tasks. The formation and operation of Virtual Organizations involve establishing trust among their members and reputation is one measure by which such trust can be quantified and reasoned about. In this paper, we contribute to research in the area of trust for collaborative computing systems alon… Show more

“…Current work targets at the enhancement of the access control functionalities toward the integration of “soft security” measurements such as recommendations and reputation . Moreover, we are aiming at extending the BCA model to encapsulate notions such as the qua‐lity of users and organizations registration and authentication procedures, a metric known as level of assurance.…”

“…The definition of trust in distributed systems has been widely studied. The definition of trust parameters often depends on the application, the environment, and the requirements defined by system administrators.…”

“…The solution uses challenge–response operations in each trust evaluation phase and validates every contacted peer along with recording their corresponding trust value. In , a general reputation model for collaborative computing system was proposed. The impact of applying reputation in virtual organization has been also studied.…”

“…The authors do not describe the aggregation of trustworthiness attributes such as reliability and response time. Arenas et al described a reputation model in which organisations share resources such as services to form virtual organisations. The model is an example of collaborative scenarios in the existing service environments where our approach can be useful.…”
