Reputation evaluation and its impact on the human cooperation—A recent survey

Abstract: In this survey, we briefly review some recent advances in the field of indirect reciprocity and reputation mechanism along the routes of theoretical modeling and behavior experiments. Firstly, various game models with reputation evaluation are proposed, and large quantities of numerical simulations demonstrate that introducing the reputation evaluation drastically enhances the level of collective cooperation within the population. In particular, the so-called leading eight rules are found to be evolutionarily … Show more

“…In one-shot social dilemma games, where reciprocity mechanisms such as reputation effects [36,37], repeated interactions, and other factors like prior commitment and intention are excluded, the committed player can be either a committed cooperator or a committed defector due to the limited strategy space in this framework. The concept of committed individuals in social dilemma games was initially introduced by Mauro Mobilia [21].…”

“…As an example, Li et al explored the impact of second-order reputation assessment in trust game dilemmas, showing that second-order reputation can aid pro-social strategies in overcoming initial dilemmas [40]. Additionally, the concept of higher-order social norms has been formalized [41][42][43].…”

“…Introduction. -The complexities of decision-making processes have garnered considerable interdisciplinary attention, intersecting domains such as psychology, economics, machine learning, and game theory [1][2][3][4][5][6]. Conventional decision-making paradigms posit that individuals operate as agents of rationality, optimizing self-interest aligned choices [7].…”
