“…The same conclusions were reached in more recent investigations. The success claimed by Cardone et al [1] if confirmed, would have great scientific and practical significance. According to Ericsson et al [2], however, validity of the claim is far from obvious.…”

“…But they are no substitute for additional experiments. The authors of [2] are correct that arguments presented in [1] are not convincing. Better experiments are worth performing.…”

“…The trivial effect described above may or may not be responsible for what was interpreted in [1] as a cavitation-induced transmutation of radioactive isotopes. Likewise, procedural mistakes described in [2] may or may not have been made by Cardone et al Critical comments usually lead to better experiments or to better interpretations.…”

“…Experimental results described in [1] can be summarized as follows. A thorium salt dissolved in water is subjected to intense cavitation for 90 minutes.…”

“…Fortunately, existence of such a trivial effect can easily be detected, for example, by applying CR-39 chips to surfaces suspected to be coated with thorium. Such tests should have been conducted and results should have been discussed in [1].…”
