When using raw molasses as substrate, it is usually diluted to sugar concentrations o f 12-15% for optimal yield of citric acid , Garg and Sharma, 1991. Optimal yields o f citric acid were observed at sugar concentrations o f 10% (w/v) for maltose, sucrose, mannose and fructose, with the exception o f glucose (7.5%) (Xu et al, 1989).…”
