“…The 6MWT is likely a strong predictor of home versus community walking activity because in addition to measuring functional walking endurance it is related to a variety of other body structure/ function, activity, and participation constructs. 6,17,[30][31][32][33] The cutoff values may be useful for clinicians to predict home versus community walking behavior in people with stroke.…”

“…In the original studies, all participants provided informed consent, and the study protocols were approved by the appropriate institutional review boards. 11,12 Both trials collected the following data at 12 months poststroke in the LEAPS trial and at ≥10.5 months poststroke in the FASTEST trial: comfortable gait speed (CGS), 3,4,17 fast gait speed, 17 6-minute walk test (6MWT), 6 lower extremity Fugl Meyer (FM), 18 Berg Balance scale (BBS), 19 SIS-mobility, 20 SIS-participation, 20 functional ambulation category, 21 mini mental state exam, age, sex, marital status, and average steps per day (over a 7-day period in the FASTEST trial and a 2-day period in the LEAPS trial) using an activity monitor 15 (StepWatch Activity Monitor; Orthocare Innovations, Oklahoma City, OK).…”

“…18,19 Participants walked a 30-metre pathway with turns at 0 and 30 metres; they were instructed to walk as far as possible during the 6 minutes, and no verbal encouragement was provided. The 6MWT was performed once, and distance walked was measured.…”

“…More specifically, our objectives were to investigate (1) crosssectional convergent construct validity of the ABC scale; (2) known-groups validity (between fallers and non-fallers, and by gender and mobility status); (3) test-retest reliability of the ABC scale; and (4) internal consistency. Based on earlier studies, 9,15 our hypothesis was that correlations would be moderate between scores on the ABC scale and the TUG test, 16 the 10TW, 17 the 6MWT, 18,19 and subjective physical health status measured by the SF-36 physical component summary score. 20,21 …”
