Reliability modeling for consecutive k‐out‐of‐n: F systems with local load‐sharing components subject to dependent degradation and shock processes

Abstract: Traditional k‐out‐of‐n models assume that the components are independent, while recent research studies assume that the components are dependent caused by global load‐sharing characteristic. In this paper, we investigate the consecutive k‐out‐of‐n systems with dependent components by local load‐sharing characteristic. The work load and shock load on failed components will be equally shared by adjacent components, so the components tend to fail consecutively. Consequently, the components degradation processes m… Show more

“…There is no clear mathematical method that captures the effect of each load change on the failure rate of a working spatial neighbour rather deterministic failure rate values were assumed. Recently, Guo et al (2020) developed a reliability model for a system with local load-sharing whose components are subject to degradation and external shocks. Both papers considered adjacent neighbour interaction.…”

“…According to the degradation‐threshold‐shock models, 2,3 soft failure occurs when the degradation of the system exceeds a given threshold. In addition, the shocks caused by external factors will also lead to the hard failures 4,5 . There are various shock models, we only consider the following two types 8 : cumulative shock model and extreme shock model.…”

“…Existing studies on shock models are mainly devoted to reliability analysis for various engineering systems such as k-out-of-n system, 26 consecutive-k-out-of-n system 27 and balanced system. 28,29 Moreover, the methods to evaluate reliability of various systems are becoming abundant.…”
