Relative Contribution rate on Soil Physico-chemical properties Related to Fruit Quality of 'Fuji' apple

Abstract: The management standard on soil conditions in 'Fuji' apple to produce high quality fruit were not yet made. Therefore, this study was carried out to investigate the optimum soil environmental conditions of ten contents on production of high quality fruit in 'Fuji' apple. The soil and fruit characteristics were analyzed at total 60 orchards in major apple producing areas such as Chungju, Moonkyeung, yeongju, andong, yeosan and yeongcheon (10 orchards an area). The soil environmental factors affected fruit weigh… Show more

“…Forest lands not disturbed by the use of chemical or organic fertilizers lead to differences in the distribution of soil organic matter and nitrogen by horizon (Jeong et al 2002); while land use types related to farming show an accumulation of high soil nutrient concentrations such as phosphorus, due to long-term fertilization (Park and Shin 2008;Kim et al 2011). The ionization speed is high for nitrogen and potassium components included in fertilizers, while it is lower for phosphorus, leading to differences in the movement of ionized nutrients based on soil properties (Brady and Weil 2002;Park et al 2010).…”

“…Furthermore, MF showed a higher ratio in B horizon than in A horizon, while AF showed a higher ratio in A horizon, as compared to the other sites. This could be due to an accumulation of nutrients in the soil from the continued introduction of fertilizers meant to enhance fruit quality (Scudellari et al 1993;Kim et al 2011).…”

“…Also, carotenoids pigments content are small and varies very little between the two types of soil. Kim et al, 2012 showed that sugar content, color and weight of grapevine cultivars were great influence by soils with hardened layers. Sharples, 1980 showed that physical and chemical properties of soil and climatic factors affect the rate of ripening and qualities of pears grown in South Africa, North America.…”
