Both media and digital literacies are essential for the 21 st century. Consequently, several governments have integrated technologies with school curriculums. Recently, ICT integration efforts, particularly with the digital tablet, have multiplied. Several academic uses of the tablet are explored, and some raise questions. This is the case of note taking as viewed in a single Quebec high school. Which application should students use, and should it be the same one for all subjects? Is it effective? Which strategies should be promoted? These are not trivial questions where educational success is concerned. Whereas note taking using certain technological tools has already been studied, little research has focused on with the use of a digital tablet. Students who use a tablet daily were asked a series of questions related to note taking. Our analysis suggests that teachers should play an active role in the appropriation of this tool. RésuméLes littératies médiatique et numérique sont essentielles pour le 21 e siècle. Plusieurs gouvernements les intègrent par conséquent aux curriculums scolaires. Actuellement, les efforts d'intégration de la tablette numérique se multiplient. Plusieurs usages scolaires sont cités et certains soulèvent des interrogations. C'est le cas de la prise de notes qui soulève des questions auprès de plusieurs enseignants d'une école secondaire québécoise. Avec quelle application? Une seule? Toujours la même? Dans toutes les matières ? Est-ce efficace? Quelles stratégies de prise de notes doit-on favoriser? Ces questions sont importantes pour la réussite scolaire. Adolescents with Asperger syndrome, AS, often have handwriting difficulties which affect their academic performance. The purpose of this descriptive multiple case mixed method study was to highlight how adolescents with AS experience writing in the school setting when writing by hand and when using a computerized Assistive, Technology Device, ATD, for writing. A qualitative content analysis approach was used, including interviews with five adolescents, their parents and their teachers. This was complemented by asking the adolescents to rate their perceived performance and satisfaction of writing with and without the ATD. All adolescents described handwriting difficulties, but a reduced ability to express oneself in writing was also common. Initiating and completing writing tasks was often so demanding that it caused resistance to the activity. Several advantages when using the ATD were described by the participants and the self-ratings showed higher scores for performance and satisfaction of writing when the ATD was used. The results show that teachers' encouragement seemed to be important for the initiation and continuation of use of the ATD.

There is a poorly addressed input area in the accessibility field that deals with the input of scientific elements including mathematical formulas. Few studies have addressed this issue although Word and Open Office editors offer input interfaces consisting of button bars associated with mathematical symbols and an "input sheet". The analysis of input activity with these tools with disabled children has revealed that the use of these bars is complex and tiring. HandyMathKey is virtual keyboard co-designed by specialized teacher and human-interaction researchers to address the difficulties of numerical mathematical input tools. The purpose of this paper is to describe the observation method implemented in a 4th grade class at the Centre Jean Lagarde in Toulouse and to report few results on usability of HMK.
