Social problem-solving skills are the individual's way for better social adaptation. Therefore, the study aimed to investigate the characteristics of Palestinian adolescents' social problem-solving (Positive orientation, negative orientation, rational style, impulsive style, and avoidance style) in connection to some demographic variables (i.e. gender, age, family composition, father's education, and mother's education). As an instrument, Social Problem-Solving Inventory-Revised (SPSI-R) was applied to 410 Palestinian adolescents whose ages (12, 15, and 18 years old). The results showed that the Palestinian adolescents had the highest level of positive orientation and the least level of negative problem orientation towards solving social-problems. In addition, the finding showed that there were no differences between girls and boys in positive orientation, rational style and impulsive style, while females had a tendency towards negative orientation and avoidance style. There were no differences attributed to age in negative orientation, rational style, impulsive style, and avoidance style. However, it was found that positive orientation was prominent in 18 years old. There was no difference in adolescents' family composition in their dealing with social problems. Also, there was no difference in solving social problems attributed to the father's education. However, there was no difference in negative orientation, positive orientation, rational style, and impulsive style attributed to mother's education. However, there was a relationship between the mother who has elementary school and avoidance style.

In this study, the effect of Emotion-Focused Communication Training (EFCT) developed by the researcher was examined on the assertiveness levels of counselor candidates. The study has a mixed design because it includes quantitative and qualitative dimensions. In the quantitative dimension of the study, a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group was used. The experimental group of the study consisted of 12 (7 female, 5 male) counselor candidates studying at Dokuz Eylül University, Buca Faculty of Education, Psychological Counseling and Guidance undergraduate program; the control group consisted of 12 (8 female, 4 male) counselor candidates studying in the same department and not included in the experimental group. The Voltan-Acar Assertiveness Scale was used to measure the assertiveness levels of counselor candidates. The quantitative data of the study were analyzed using the SPSS program. In addition, a semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher was used to determine the views of the counselor candidates on the training. The qualitative data of the study were analyzed using the content analysis technique. As a result of the study, it was found that the EFCT led to a significant increase in the levels of assertiveness of counselor candidates. In the study, the counselor candidates' opinions about the effects of the EFCT were that the training contributed positively to their communication skills, awareness of communication, and assertiveness levels.

Aim: This study, which used quantitative and qualitative design, was conducted to explore the effect of neuro-linguistic programming techniques on the conflict management and interpersonal problem-solving skills of nurse managers.Background: Neuro-linguistic programming is among the methods that can enable managers to achieve the desired results in managing interpersonal problems and conflicts in an organisation. Methods:The research was carried out with a mixed methods approach. The Personal and Professional Characteristics Information Form, Interpersonal Problem-Solving Inventory and Rahim Organizational Conflict Inventory-II were applied to 41 nurse managers and nurses to collect quantitative data for the study. Semistructured questionnaires were used to collect qualitative data in focus-group interviews held both before and 6 months after the training.Results: As a result of the content analysis of the qualitative data, the nurse managers in the training group were found to have improved abilities to plan and increased flexibility, positiveness, happiness and motivation when compared to the nurse managers in the control group. Findings supporting these data were obtained in the analyses of interviews with nurses. Conclusion:Neuro-linguistic programming training can make a difference in terms of helping nurse managers to develop interpersonal problem-and conflict-solving skills.Implications for Nursing Management: Nurse managers can use neuro-linguistic programming techniques for conflict management and interpersonal problem-solving occurring in their organizations. For this purpose, it is recommended that pregraduate and postgraduate neuro-linguistic programming training is provided to nurse managers.
