“…Also, changes in fractal changes in kidney macula densa cell nuclei were shown to be significant during postnatal development in an animal experimental mode (Pantic et al ., ). In central nervous system, we have indicated that fractal parameters of cell nuclei are related to the indicators of nuclear envelope shape, such as circularity (Pantic et al ., ). Also, in recent work on adrenal zona fasciculate cells, we demonstrated the statistically significant relationship between nuclear textural features (such as the parameters of grey level co‐occurrence matrix), fractal dimension and envelope circularity (Pantic et al ., ).…”

“…Fractal analysis was done in FracLac (developed by A. Karperien, Charles Sturt University, Australia) (Karperien, –2007), a plugin of ImageJ software of the National Institutes of Health, (Bethesda, MD, USA) using conventional box‐counting method. For the details on this mathematical method, the reader is referred to our previously published works (Pantic et al ., ; Pantic et al ., ,b). Briefly, the nuclei were selected in ImageJ using freehand selection option.…”

“…Tissue sections of adrenal glands obtained from eight healthy male rats (Wistar albino sort, with previously measured hormonal levels, body weight, and other physiological parameters) were stained using previously described Feulgen method for DNA/chromatin visualization (Biesterfeld et al, 2011; Nielsen et al, 2012; Pantic et al, 2015). The study was a part of a research which had approval from the Ethical commission of the University of Belgrade, School of Medicine, and conformed to the international ethical standards regarding laboratory animal welfare.…”

“…2). Based on the results of our previous study (means, standard deviations of parameters, r coefficients), it was estimated that this sample provides a power ( β ) of <0.2 for α significance level of 0.05 (Pantic et al, 2015). Nuclei were selected in ImageJ software (National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD, USA) using the freehand selection tool.…”
