“…Therefore, the ability of resorcinolic lipids to incorporate into the phospholipid bilayer [16], to induce higher membrane permeability, and to induce cell lysis [19] proves to be true. In accordance with the previously shown ability of some ARs to regulate bacteriolytic enzyme activity [20], and to block antigen-antibody interactions [21], the data gathered strongly suggest the involvement of this molecule in the regulation of the immune response.…”

“…The differences between the sigmoid osmotic stability curves and values of the half-transition point of the hypotonic hemolysis (X 50 ) were significant for cells promoted by C 12 -AR at concentrations above 5 × 10 -5 M. The control X 50 value was 0.46 ±0.03 g/dl NaCl, and when erythrocytes were pre-incubated with 5 × 10 -5 M of C 12 -AR this increased to 0.54 ±0.04 g/dl NaCl (p ≤ 0.001); for 10 -4 M C 12 -AR-treated cells, the value increased to 0.78 ±0.04 g/dl NaCl (p ≤ 0.01). This suggests that C 12 -AR induced higher membrane permeability and affected the membrane stability, thus, operating in a similar fashion as other long-chain resorcinolic lipids [19,20].…”

“…AR interaction with membrane lipids is determined by the amphiphilic properties of these molecules and leads to an increase of cytoplasmic membrane microviscosity, changing its permeability for monovalent ions [El-Registan et al, 1979;Reusch et al, 1983] and following cell dehydration [Kaprelyants et al, 1986]. The effect of AR interaction with the enzyme proteins appears in change of the rate of catalysis [Martirosova et al, 2004] and the spectrum of substrate specificity [Petrovskii et al, 2009] with a synchronous significant increase of protein globules stability to various extreme factors [Solyanikova et al, 2011]. Results of AR interaction with biopolymers and supramolecular structures in the whole cell are the control of metabolic processes, including their inhibition and the formation of cyst-like forms of microorganisms , characterized by increased resistance to different stress factors [Stepanenko et al, 2004].…”
