The work of translation is not a matter of only transferring words from one language to another. It is a communication bridge through which a translator must pick up and carry the message of the whole text that the writer is trying to communicate in the given situation of the source-text readers and deliver it to the target-text readers in their adopted and adapted situation. This is the point at which a translator often misses what is in the writer’s mind because s/he is unable to get into the writer’s mind to reveal the hidden message. As a result, the way the readers of the target text think and feel about what they read is often not the same as the way the readers of the source text do. This paper is aimed at finding out problems related to non-equivalence from the word level to the pragmatic level based on Baker’s that may be found in a literary translation of the first chapter of Pena Beracun by Suwarni A.S from Agatha Christie’s novel ‘The Moving Finger” and discusses the translator’s choices of the target text equivalence for the source text. The method of this study is a library research. The data was collected from two sources: Pena Beracun, an Indonesian translation of ‘The Moving Finger’ by Agatha Christie and its original English novel. The data collection technique was done by comparing the two sources to find non-equivalence problems from the word level to the textual level. The problem(s) in the translator’s choice of TL equivalence for SL, which may range from choosing the equivalence at word level to the choice of textual equivalence was identified and discussed by referring to the strategies as proposed by Baker (2011). Lots of cases of non-equivalence problems are found in the translation of the first chapter Pena Beracun by Suwarni A.S from Agatha Christie’s novel ‘The Moving Finger’ which range from non-equivalence at word level to textual level. Most of the problems of non-equivalence are related to collocation and fixed expressions. The translator’s strategies to overcome the problems are directed more to the acceptability and naturalness in the target language, giving style to the literary use of language.

The advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has markedly influenced the field of translation, particularly within the scientific community. The study aims to explore the challenges faced by human translators and AI apps highlighting the strategies they use when translating scientific texts from English into Arabic and vice versa. It also seeks to compare the translations produced by human translators with those generated by Artificial Intelligence. Moreover, this study endeavors to identify potential solutions for enhancing translation efficiency and productivity, particularly in the domain of scientific translation. The author adopted an analytical-descriptive methodology and a comparative analysis of the translations produced. To achieve this, a comprehensive test comprising six texts, including (18) collocations, phrasal verbs and abbreviations was administered to assess (20) Arab translators’ performance and challenges encountered. The same test was inputted to (10) AI applications to compare ultimately the performance of both human translators and AI tools efficiency in translating scientific texts. The outcomes were analysed and evaluated with the assistance of three professional translators in addition to slandered translation. The research’s findings aim to advance translation efficiency and productivity, especially within the scientific translation domain, which is pivotal for international knowledge and collaboration. The data analysis was carried out according to Ghazala's classification (2008) for the challenges, Newmark's taxonomy (1980) for strategies, and Prieto's criteria (2015) for the assessment of the translations of translators and AI.

Серед питань, які цікавлять сучасних перекладознавців – термінологічні проблеми перекладу та концептуалізація терміносистеми як ресурсу і результату спеціалізованих знань. Звідси – наукову розвідку присвячено дослідженню термінів перекладознавчого спрямування та їхніх функцій. Натепер англо-українська терміносистема перекладознавчого орієнтиру обумовлює потребу в упорядкуванні термінологічних одиниць. Власне, така необхідність мотивована з’явою однієї з перших комплексних спроб впровадження фахової метамови перекладної лексики та термінології; мовимо про Енциклопедію перекладознавства : у 4 т. (за ред. Іва Ґамб’є та Люка ван Дорслара; за заг. ред. О. А. Кальниченка та Л. М. Черноватого). Намір статті – визначити та проаналізувати структурно-семантичні та лексико-тематичні трансформації, спрямовані на системно-впорядкований огляд перекладознавчих термінів. У межах розвідки окреслено поняття терміна й досліджено його основоположні властивості; описано теоретичне підґрунтя лексико-семантичних перекладацьких трансформацій з позиції репрезентативної та трансферної функції; здійснено перекладознавчий аналіз термінологічних одиниць, з увагою до аналізу лексико-тематичної передачі спеціалізованої лексики, дотичної до галузі перекладознавства. Докладно оглянуто структурну складову аналізованих терміносполук. Окрему увагу приділено лексико-семантичним групам, таким як: найменування типів перекладу, найменування осіб, найменування підходів до перекладу, найменування загальних понять процесу перекладу. Використано такі дослідницькі методи й прийоми: аналіз, який полягає в розчленуванні предмета дослідження на складові з метою їх вичерпного вивчення; синтез, основою якого слугує об’єднання попередньо розчленованих компонентів у єдине ціле; описовий метод, зміст якого – інвентаризація, систематизація та надання повного й точного опису мовних одиниць; вибірковий метод, що полягає в дослідженні загальних властивостей сукупності на основі вивчення особливостей об’єктів, узятих на вибірку; перекладознавчий аналіз для зіставлення англійськомовних термінв та їх українськомовних відповідників. Результати розвідки лише окреслюють аспекти, що потребують подальшого дослідження. Зокрема, увага до контексту та укладання двомовного електронного глосарію стане подальшим кроком дослідження.
