It is illustrated by the fitted Regge trajectories for a large majority of mesons that the radial and orbital Regge trajectories for mesons prefer being concave in the (nr, M 2 ) and (l, M 2 ) planes, respectively. The concavity of the meson Regge trajectories is model-independent. The concavity is expected to act as a criterion to choose a newly observed meson or to assign a particle to the unwellestablished state. The concavity of the meson Regge trajectories can assist in model construction and in the choice of the appropriate model to describe mesons. The appropriate models should yield the spectra which can produce the concave Regge trajectories according to the concavity of the meson Regge trajectories. If the large majority of the meson Regge trajectories are concave while a few meson Regge trajectories are convex which neither have been confirmed nor have been completely excluded at present, many existing models should be corrected or even be reconstructed, which will lead to the further understanding of the meson dynamics.

The bottomonium spectrum is far from being established. The structures of higher vector states, including the Υ(10580), Υ(10860), and Υ(11020) states, are still in dispute. In addition, whether the Υ(10750) signal which was recently observed by the Belle Collaboration is a normal bb state or not should be examined. Faced with such situation, we carried out a systematic investigation of the bottomonium spectrum in the scheme of the relativistic flux tube (RFT) model. A Chew-Frautschi like formula was derived analytically for the spin average mass of bottomonium states. We further incorporated the spin-dependent interactions and obtained a complete bottomonium spectrum. We found that the most established bottomonium states can be explained in the RFT scheme. The Υ(10750), Υ(10860), and Υ(11020) could be predominantly the 3 3 D 1 , 5 3 S 1 , and 4 3 D 1 states, respectively. Our predicted masses of 1F and 1G bb states are in agreement with the results given by the method of lattice QCD, which can be tested by experiments in future. We also compared the RFT model with the quark potential model in detail. The differences of these two kinds of models were discussed.
