The use of natural gas for power generation is becoming increasingly important in many regions in the world. Given that the combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power stations are lower in capital cost and carbon intensity than their coal-fired counterparts, natural gas fired power stations are considered a vital part of the transition to a low carbon economy. However, CCGTs are not themselves "low carbon" and in order to reach a carbon intensity of less than 50 kg CO2 /MWh, it will be necessary to decarbonise them via CCS, with postcombustion CCS currently regarded as being a promising technology for this application. In this study, we present a detailed model of a 420 MW triple-pressure reheat CCGT and evaluate its technical and economic performance under full and part load conditions. We evaluate the technical performance of our CCGT model by comparison to an equivalent model implemented in Thermoflow THERMOFLEX and observe agreement of power output and efficiency to within 4.1% and the temperature profile within the HRSG within 2.9%. We further integrate the CCGT with a dynamic model of an amine based CCS process, and observe a reduction in the base plant efficiency from 51.84% at full-load and 50.23% at 60% load by 8.64% points at full-load and 7.93% points at 60% load. A core conclusion of this paper is that CCGT power plants equipped with post-combustion CCS technologies are well suited to dynamic operation, as might be required in an energy system characterised by high penetrations of intermittent renewable power generation.

a b s t r a c tThis paper construct a CCHP and renewable energy based hybrid energy system driven by distributed energy resources (DERs CCHP). Then, the paper constructs performance indexes from energy, economic and environment. Thirdly, the paper proposes a multi-objective optimization model for DERs CCHP system under four optimization of energy rate (ER), total operation cost (TOC), carbon dioxide emission reductions (CER) and joint optimization. Finally, Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center (GHEMC) in China is taken as the object for comparatively analyzing the operation performance of DERs CCHP system and CCHP system driven by natural gas (NG CCHP system). Results show: Joint optimization mode could balance the results of different optimization modes. DERs CCHP system shows better operation performance. ER of ER optimization, CER optimization and joint optimization are higher than that of NG CCHP system. NPV of all optimization modes is positive, IRR are bigger than the expected yield rate. DERs CCHP system could reduce CO 2 emission by utilizing wind energy and solar energy to replace NG. The sensitivity analysis indicates the performance of the DERs CCHP system will become better with the increase of chiller COP, decrease of NG price and wind-photovoltaic equipment cost.

In order to explore the mechanism of low-temperature ash deposition induced by ammonium bisulfate (ABS), ash deposits, and a corroded heat transfer plate in the rotary air preheater (RAPH) of a 1,000-MW pulverized coal-fired power plant in China were analyzed by X-ray fluorescence, ion chromatography, X-ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscope equipped with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The element composition, main compounds, and ammonium ion in the samples were analyzed. The thermal gravimetric analysis of ash samples was conducted to infer the type of ammonium salt ultimately existing in the ash. The prediction of the ABS deposition range coincides well with both the area of serious ash deposition and the area of NH 4 + distribution obtained by ion chromatography. The cause for corrosion and plugging in the RAPH was proposed by analyzing the reactions or mineral transformations involved in the ash deposits. The results indicate that ABS can form in a large height range in the RAPH. The ammonium induces the sulfur trioxide to deposit on and react with the metal plate or the ash particles to form sulfates, which act as the bridging agent, finally leading to serious plugging problems in the RAPH.
