Reducing Commuter CO2 Footprint through Transit PV Electrification

Abstract: The transport sector is a major consumer of energy, and thus a major contributor to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The introduction of Electric Vehicles (EVs) has helped in mitigating some of the energy demands presented by the transportation system, though the electrical energy still needs to be secured through conventional and renewable resources. Searching for a new power source for vehicles has become necessary, due to incentives and policy initiatives to counter fossil greenhouse gas emissions. This stud… Show more

“…Similar to a flyback converter, the forward converter also has a power limitation of 100 W [103]. The output of the kth winding is related to the input as given by Equation (12). The magnetizing inductance (L m ), output inductance (L k ) and output capacitance (C k ) can be found using Equations ( 13), ( 14) and (15), respectively.…”

“…The policy combats to decrease vehicular emissions to mend Delhi's air quality. The policy seeks out quick adoption of EVs strategically by increasing the share of EV registration by 25% in the total registration of new vehicles by 2023 (Dalala et al, 2020;Goyal et al, 2019;Narain and Bell, 2016).…”

“…It consumed around 60% of global oil products . EVs can help in countering the climate change challenge (Shalender and Yadav, 2017;Vidhi and Shrivastava, 2018) of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50-85% by 2050 (Dalala et al, 2020) to avoid a global temperature rise of 2.5 degrees Celsius (Kejun et al, 2021;Xu et al, 2021;Goel et al, 2021). The structural handicaps, including small size, remoteness and non-interconnected electrical networks, further escalate the challenges of promoting EVs (Tarei et al, 2021;Sharma and Chandel, 2020).…”

“…Zero-and low-emission vehicle technologies must assume a more prominent role in reducing our dependence on fossil fuels, with electricity, hydrogen, and biofuels taking the lead (Raslavičius et In line with the aforementioned, the energy transition in transport is seen as a viable alternative to achieve decarbonization within this sector (Raslavičius et Given its complexity, the literature approaches the energy transition in the transport sector from diverse angles. Some countries prioritize the energy transition as an alternative to achieving harmony within the transport sector (Nordelöf et al 2014;Fiori et al 2018; Dalala et al 2020; Ku et al 2021;Stecuła et al 2022). Consequently, the literature has accumulated a substantial body of knowledge in this eld, leading to the implementation of various research methodologies and policies aimed at analyzing and promoting this transition.…”
