Recombinant lactic acid bacteria as promising vectors for mucosal vaccination

Abstract: Lactic acid bacteria (LAB), a diverse family of gram‐positive bacteria, has been proven effective in delivering varieties of therapeutic and prophylactic molecules such as antigens and cytokines. Featuring the properties of acid‐resistant, high uptake into Peyer's patches, and superior capacity for inducing secretory IgA antibodies, LAB have good potential to be used as vaccine vectors for mucosal vaccination. Mucosal immunization enables both mucosal and systemic immune responses, which are critical for resis… Show more

“…The Wnt/β-catenin pathway is involved in many biological processes, including modulating chronic inflammation [ 62 ], liver functions [ 63 ], regulating cell proliferation [ 64 ], genome stability [ 65 ], neurodegeneration [ 66 ], and cardiometabolic disorders [ 67 ]. Upregulating the Wnt/β-catenin pathway may be of great impact on breast vessel functions, including uremic vascular calcifications [ 68 ] and angiogenesis [ 69 , 70 , 71 ]. However, most vessel damage also induces downregulation of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway, and complementary Wnt sources can promote vascular development post damage [ 72 ].…”

“…The CD274 was lower in the low FDX1 expression group, as were the CTLA4 , LAG3 , PDCD1 , PDCD1LG2 , and TIGIT , which were higher in the low FDX1 expression group. The results helped us better choose ICB for immune treatment or provided a theoretical basis for the development of new therapeutic strategies based on immune characteristics [ 61 , 62 ]. The immune response prediction results showed that low FDX1 expression had worse response.…”

“…As the pathogenic mechanisms of GBM are complex, [ 6 ] combinatorial therapy that targets multiple oncogenic molecular pathways has a better chance of avoiding the development of drug resistance associated with monotherapies. Recently, treatments that modulate immune‐regulation have attracted intensive attention, [ 7 ] strategies such as cancer vaccines, [ 8 ] immune checkpoint blockade immunotherapy, [ 9 ] and adoptive cell therapy (e.g., CAR‐T), [ 10 ] have shown encouraging clinical results in treating various types of cancers including GBM. Among them, blockade therapy using immune checkpoint inhibitors targeting the programmed death‐1 (PD‐1)/programmed death‐ligand 1 (PD‐L1) pathway, has become a first option for many cancers and has significantly changed the landscape of cancer therapy.…”
