Recognising hypoglycaemia in older people

Abstract: Hypoglycaemia is an acute complication associated with the use of insulin or sulphonlyureas to treat diabetes. This article will focus on the risks of hypoglycaemia in older people including the signs and symptoms. It will give an overview of diabetes and discuss the specific problems associated with aging in managing diabetes. Poorly-controlled diabetes is associated with long-term complications.
