Recircumscription ofOxera(Lamiaceae: Ajugoideae) to includeFaradayabased on molecular and anatomical data

Abstract: Oxera is a genus of c. 20 species from New Caledonia and Vanuatu. Its phylogenetic placement in Lamiaceae (Ajugoideae) remained uncertain until studies showed close affinities with the large pantropical genus Clerodendrum, the Indo-Pacific Faradaya (three species) and the monotypic Hosea from Borneo. We reassessed the relationships of Oxera with these genera by building a phylogenetic framework based on six plastid and six nuclear loci and on a sampling including 30 ingroup species. The results show that Clero… Show more

“…Clade III was not a focus of this study and contains no taxa that were formerly assigned to Caryopteris. However, the clade is strongly supported (100%, 100%, 1.00), and its overall topology is similar to that found in other studies (Steane & al., 2004;Yuan & al., 2010;Barrabé & al., 2015;. “…Two subclades (III-i, ii in Fig. 2) were recovered, and interrelationships within them have been well documented in papers focusing on this clade (Steane & al., 1997(Steane & al., , 1999(Steane & al., , 2004Yuan & al., 2010;Barrabé & al., 2015).…”
