Recent Advances in Ionic Liquids and Ionic Liquid-Functionalized Graphene: Catalytic Application and Environmental Remediation

Abstract: Applications of ionic liquids (ILs) for the modification physicochemical properties of porous materials have been extensively studied with respect to various applications based on the understanding and development of properties of ILs. In this review, IL–graphene composites are discussed and provided a perspective of composites of IL. IL has been used as a medium to improve the dispersibility of graphene, and the resulting composite material shows excellent performance in gas separation and catalysis during en… Show more

“…Moreover, the aromatic rings present in imidazole cations can interact with graphene surfaces through p-p stacking interactions. 217 ILs-NH 2 can also react with epoxy groups on GO to form covalent bonds. 218 The introduction of ILs not only produces IL-functionalized graphene with excellent conductivity, stability, and dispersibility, but also prevents the aggregation of graphene.…”
