Recent Advances in Anti-Aging Medicine

Abstract: A rapidly aging population in Korea has led to increased attention in the field of anti-aging medicine. The purpose of anti-aging medicine is to slow, stop, or reverse the aging process and its associated effects, such as disability and frailty. Anti-aging medicine is emerging as a growing industry, but many supplements or protocols are available that do not have scientific evidence to support their claims. In this review, the mechanisms of action and the clinical implications of anti-aging interventions were … Show more

“…This was called by the authors as the anti-aging network. This should not be understood as the notion of anti-aging medicine is used nowadays [ 123 ]. During aging as the experimental data for both the innate and adaptive immune systems showed, there is a constant increase in the pro-inflammatory status underlying, what was later called by Prof. Franceschi as immunobiography and leading to the phenomenon of inflammaging [ 61 ].…”

“…ASCs have been shown to be an ideal source of cells for tissue repair and regeneration (3) and have been shown to be useful in the treatment of oxidative stress‐linked pathologies (25). Hormone production and GLU homoeostasis change with aging, and decreasing hormone secretion (such as SHBG and TSH) during aging has been correlated with a decline in bodily functions (26,27), so hormone replacement as a therapeutic intervention may stop or reverse this decline. In our study, the results showed that ASC treatment increased the expression of SHBG, TSH, leptin, and GLU homoeostasis in the plasma, which reversed aging.…”

“…As the population of Korea is rapidly aging due to low fertility and a long-life span, 1) comorbidities and disability of older adults have increased. Disability is linked to functional dependency on caregivers and results in significant long-term health care expenses.…”
