Recent advances and open questions in neutrino-induced quasi-elastic scattering and single photon production

Abstract: a b s t r a c tThe study of neutrino-nucleus interactions has recently seen rapid development with a new generation of accelerator-based neutrino experiments employing medium and heavy nuclear targets for the study of neutrino oscillations. A few unexpected results in the study of quasi-elastic scattering and single photon production have spurred a revisiting of the underlying nuclear physics and connections to electron-nucleus scattering. A thorough understanding and resolution of these issues is essential fo… Show more

“…A simultaneous fit to two theoretical model parameters obtained the values M A = 1.10 +0. 13 −0.15 GeV and g s A = −0.4 +0.5 −0.3 , consistent with the older evaluations based on the neutrino-deuteron scattering data. In the analysis of the NCE data the effective transverse enhancement (TE) model [228] is used, because to date this is the only NC np-nh model available in NuWro.…”

“…The combination of these models would allow for a consistent picture of an axial mass close to 1.00 GeV/c 2 , with a suppressed cross section at low-Q 2 and larger cross section at higher-Q 2 relative to a simple RFG model. Comprehensive reviews of available CCQE cross section models can be found in References [3,[20][21][22].…”

“…Although alternative nuclear models modify the cross section as a function of the outgoing lepton kinematics significantly, they do not change the total CCQE cross section significantly as a function of neutrino energy [21]. Additional nuclear effects are also likely to be required to explain the current global dataset.…”

“…The nuissyst application can be used to study the effects of cross-section systematics on userspecified distributions in a number of ways, provided that the generators have reweighting libraries enabled 5 . It can step through a range of values for a reweightable parameter 6 and validate reweighting implementations.…”
