“…Convection electrophoresis. This technique has also been ap plied to ascertain the association of sk-antibody with electropho retic serum components (11,12,13,14,15). We refer to data of Cann and Loveless (14), from which they conclude that skantibody is predominantly associated with beta globulin, on the grounds of a seeming parallelism between dilutability of fractions and their beta globulin content.…”

“…Newell and coworkers (19), on the other hand, previously applied the same technique and found skin-sensitizing antibody in the gamma globulin but not in the beta globulin fraction. Other work on sera containing skin-sensitizing antibody by Campbell and his coworkers (20), using the method of electrophoresis convection, indicated that reagin activity was associated with alpha and beta globulins particularly when the serum was from a patient with immediate type skin sensitivity to a single substance. However, it was shown by Campbell, et al (20) that reaginic activity occurred in all globulin fractions when the serum was from a patient who was sensitive to numerous materials.…”

“…of the starch block was cut into 65 to 80 segments, each s In a few experiments (R/284, R/285, R/287 and R/289) the ditch was cut out half way between the center and the cathodic end of the block. 4 The position of the ditch corresponding to the zone of application is indicated by an arrow in all the figures presented later.…”
