Reactions of SiCl2 with N2O, NO and O2

Abstract: The thermal route to dichlorosilylene by pyrolysis of Si 2 Cl 6 has been investigated using both mass spectrometry and matrix isolation techniques. The formation of SiCl 2 in the gas phase was confirmed by employing a known '' trapping '' agent, namely buta-1,3-diene, which gave the product 1,2-dichloro-1-silacyclopent-3-ene.
