Rare top quark decaystcVin the top-color-assisted technicolor model

Abstract: We consider the rare top quark decays in the framework of the top-color-assisted technicolor ͑TC2͒ model. We find that the contributions of top-pions and top-Higgs-bosons predicted by the TC2 model can enhance the SM branching ratios by as much as 6 -9 orders of magnitude; i.e., in the extreme case, the orders of magnitude of branching ratios are Br(t→cg)ϳ10 Ϫ5 , Br(t→cZ)ϳ10 Ϫ5 , Br(t→c␥)ϳ10 Ϫ7 . With reasonable values of the parameters in the TC2 model, such rare top quark decays may be testable in future exp… Show more

“…t → cV (V = g, γ, Z) have also been explored in two Higgs doublet models [1,2], technicolor models [3], top-color assisted technicolor models [4], models with extra vector singlets [5] and supersymmetry with [6,7,8,9,10,11,12], and without SUSY QCD and EW contributions [6] and obtained branching ratios of 10 −6 for t → cg and 10 −8 for t → cγ, Z. Couture et al included the left-handed squark mixing in their calculation [7] and obtained branching ratios of 10 −5 for the gluon, 10 −7 for the photon and 10 −6 for the Z boson. Inclusion of the right-handed squark mixing [8], did not change branching ratios significantly.…”

“…In the SM, the t → Zq branching ratio is expected to be of order 10 −14 [30]. However, in some BSM models [31,32,33] it can reach values up to about 10 −4 . Both CMS [34] and ATLAS [35] have searched for this in Run-1 data, with the best limit of 5 × 10 −4 (for 9 × 10 −4 expected) coming from CMS.…”

“…The branching ratios for the processes t → qγ and t → qg are of the order of 10 −14 -10 −12 in the SM [3,4]. In contrast, several BSM scenarios, such as the two-Higgs doublet model, supersymmetry or technicolour, predict much larger rates [5,6], of the order of 10 −6 -10 −5 . It implies that observation of the large FCNC-induced couplings tqγ and tqg would indicate the existence of BSM.…”

“…The enhanced FCNC tqγ and tqg interactions are predicted by many extensions of the SM which include new exotic quarks [7], new scalars [8,9], supersymmetry [5,[10][11][12][13][14], or technicolour [6,15]. The BSM effects can be described a e-mail: lgguoyuchen@126.com b e-mail: cxyue@lnnu.edu.cn by a minimal set of the higher order effective operators independently from the underlying theory [16].…”
