Rapid recovery from acute myocarditis under levosimendan treatment: report of two cases

Abstract: To our knowledge, there is no report or study on levosimendan therapy for AVM in humans to date. Herein, we share two cases that revealed dramatic improvement in the myocardial function with levosimendan usage during the early phase of AVM.

“…In severely impaired ventricular function, there are anecdotal reports that intravenous levosimendan can improve biventricular function. 9 In our case, we observed a dramatic improvement from 25% to 40–45% of left ventricular ejection fraction during the hospital stay. However, our concern was the potential transient positive inotropic effect of levosimendan.…”

“…And it may reduce the need for high-dose inotropes in another study [72]. There is no more evidence on levosimendan therapy for acute viral myocarditis [73, 74] and postpartum cardiomyopathy [75, 76] in humans to date.…”
