Ranking of software engineering metrics by fuzzy‐based matrix methodology

Abstract: This research paper presents a framework for ranking of software engineering metrics based on expert opinion elicitation and fuzzy-based matrix methodology. The proposed methodology is able to accommodate the imprecise and inexact data involved in the problem of ranking of software engineering metrics, vagueness and ambiguity occurring during expert (human) decision making and to depart from the complexity of formulation of the objective and the constraint function. The matrices lend themselves to mechanical m… Show more

“…The matrix method has already been used for the ranking of software engineering metrics (Garg et al, 2013) and power plants (Dahiya et al, 2007). This hybrid methodology takes the advantage of both fuzzy set theory to accommodate impreciseness and vagueness and matrix method for calculation of single numerical index called permanent for ranking of COTS components.…”

“…Interconnection of Pages Page Rank algorithm is a framework given by Google. However in the overhead calculation, they can't work proficiently if isolated [12]. Given an assumption that there exists a trustworthy blog with page rank better than the others yet the new substance added to that blog isn't important, so there must be some instrument to go past the connection investigation for this purpose [9].…”

“…IDF factor can be thought of as a normaliser, it diminishes the weight of those words that occur frequently while expands the weight of lesser used identifiers. The IDF report is numerical assessment of information given by the words based on the basis of their occurrence [12].…”

“…This paper used AHP method as the simplest technique of ranking. However, during the past few years, there have been other competitive techniques which can be used for ranking alternatives such as weighted distance-based approximation (WDBA) and distance-based approximation (DBA) method [62][63][64], Euclidean Distance Based Approximation (EDBA) [65], Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) and fuzzy set theory (FST) [66][67][68], Visekriterijumsko Kompromisno Rangiranje (VIKOR) MCDM method [69], Fuzzy Set Theory and Weighted Distance Based Approximation [70], Fuzzy-TOPSIS (F-TOPSIS) and TOPSIS method [71,72], Fuzzy Distance Based Approach (FDBA)' method [73], fuzzy-based matrix methodology [74], Fuzzy Complex Proportional Assessment (COPRAS) [75], Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FAHP), COPRAS, VIKOR, WDBA [76], Hybrid MCDM methods [77] and fuzzy ELECTRE approach [78].
