Bangka Belitung is one of the provinces in Indonesia known as a tin-producing area. Illegal tin mining results in excavated holes. The characteristics of the water in the ex-mining pits are acidic and contain heavy metals such as iron. This journal aims to determine the effect of filtration in improving the quality of water samples and to determine the best doses of Na2CO3 and KMnO4 as pre-treatment. Also to find out which experiment resulted in higher Fe removal efficiency and whether the quality of the treated water complies with the Regulation of the Minister of Health Number 492 of 2010. This study used primary data of pH and iron content as dependent variables. The population of this research is Alang Lake water that taken by random sampling method. The experiment was carried out on a lab-scale with two independent variables which were sampled with replicates every 30 minutes. In this experiment, the optimum doses of Na2CO3 and KMnO4 were 300 mg/L and 0.75 mg/L, respectively. The treated water has a pH value of 7.4-8.1, iron concentration 0.25 mg/L with removal efficiency is 93.56%, and turbidity 0.05-0.75 NTU. The method of testing water quality that is in great demand by researchers because it is practical and inexpensive, one of which is the colorimetric method. To detect the concentration of Fe using a colorimetric method used a colorimetric indicator such as potassium thiocyanate (KSCN). KSCN is a compound consisting of the elements potassium (K), sulfur (S), carbon (C), and nitrogen (N) which can produce an orange color when reacted with Fe. In this study, 20 variations of Fe solution were used with a concentration difference of 0.5 ppm starting from 0.5 ppm to 10 ppm and obtained a correlation coefficient of 0.9962 through the UV-Vis spectrophotometer test so that potassium thiocyanate (KSCN) can be used as a colorimetric indicator for detect the concentration of Fe in water.

This research is motivated by the importance of water for human, animals and plants. Humans need water for various needs such as drinking, cooking, cleaning themselves and cleaning equipment. The use of water for basic needs must fulfill various water quality parameters. Water quality parameters include pH, turbidity, metal content and so on. One of the water quality parameters is pH. To find out pH Value it can use pH meter. In previous study a pH meter was made with the Arduino UNO microcontroller with accuracy of the device was 94.7%, while in this research was made pH meter with NodeMCU microcontroller which id connected to WiFi and application on smartphone Based on the results of the product analysis, this product has an accuracy value of 98.68%, this value is higher than previous studies, even higher than PH-009(I)A. While the error value of this product is only 1.32%, this value is also better than PH-009(I)A and from previous research products. While the precision of this tool is expressed in the RSD value. The smaller RSD value indicates that the tool has a better precision. RSD's value of the product is 0.32%, while the PH-009(I)A is 2.52%.
