Raman spectroscopic analysis of paddy rice infected by three pests and diseases common in Northeast Asia

Abstract: Pests and diseases seriously affect the yield and economic benefits of growing rice, and the key to inhibiting rice’s pathogenesis is to find early identification of rice infection. The characteristic Raman spectrum of healthy leaves, and leaves infected with rice blast, paddy rice bakanae and infected by Chilo suppressalis (Walker) were tested by TriVista555CRS laser Raman spectrometer (900cm−1–1700cm−1). At the same integration time, compared with healthy plants, the Raman peak of infected plants not only ch… Show more

“…Yue et al measured the RS spectra of intact healthy leaves and those with three diseases. 50 Healthy plants had obvious characteristic peaks at 1002.87 cm −1 (CH 3 ), 1156.5 cm −1 (C−C), and 1522.36 cm −1 (CC), while the infected leaves had a Raman shift accompanied by a decreased signal (Figure 5B). In the leaves infected with rice blast, there was a negative correlation between the diseased severity of regions and the intensities of peaks, but the difference at 1002.87 cm −1 was small (Figure 5A,B).…”

These methods were successfully employed for both rice authentication [39][40][41][42] and detection of chemical contaminants and adulterants [43][44][45][46].…”
