In fact, addition of PGs to intravaginally inseminated ejaculates has been shown to increase the fertilization rate in rabbits (Chang et al, 1973;Spilman et al, 1973) and sheep (Dimov & Georgiev, 1977), most probably by increasing sperm transport in the female repro¬ ductive tract through effects on the smooth musculature (Mandi, 1972;Chang et al, 1973). However, the present data obtained by in-vivo alterations of PG levels in rabbits show that reduction of seminal PGs does not decrease the fertilization rate.…”
