Global environmental changes coupled with socioeconomic changes are major challenges to food security. Changes in climate affect most food crops, particularly in countries that rely on agriculture for subsistence. The article proposes a model to analyze food stability in the context of climate change. Genetic improvement, agrobiodiversity, sustainable intensification, climate monitoring, and market monitoring were considered key perspectives for the balanced scorecard to achieve stability in food production. The set of perspectives and indicators were validated by 185 experts, which supported the creation of a balanced scorecard map to assist decision‐making. Therefore, the model could serve as an addition to FAO's approach to food security, driving actions related to global food policy. This research can also assist governmental policies to mitigate the effects of climate change on food stability around the world.

One of the impacts of climate change is an increase in the frequency and intensity of hydrometeorological disasters such as prolonged droughts. Borneo is one of the areas that is threatened by drought due to climate change, so it is important to know the mitigation and adaptation measures. In this study, the dynamical downscaling method by Conformal Cubic Atmospheric Model (CCAM) will be used to find out the potential for drought events in Borneo based on the RCP 4.5 scenario. As a result, in total, the annual rainfall in Borneo in 2021-2050 will increase when compared to 1991-2020. This means that, on average, the rainfall in Borneo will increase. However, the increase on the annual rainfall amount does not make Borneo free from possibilities of drought disasters in the future. Areas in southern Borneo such as Banjarmasin, Pangkalan Bun, and Pontianak are estimated to have experience more frequent meteorological drought events in 2021-2050 compared to 1991-2020. The southern part of Borneo is also expected to experience longer consecutive dry days in 2021-2050 compared to 1991-2020.

The southwest monsoon (SWM) is the world's most important monsoon system that affects nearly one third of the world population. The SWM maintains a periodicity annually in which more than 80% of the annual precipitation occurs during June-September and represents significant spatial and temporal variation which is dependent upon climatic and topographical features of the Indian subcontinent. The spatial and temporal interannual variability of Indian summer monsoon rainfall (ISMR) leads to large-scale drought and flood, resulting in a major effect on agriculture and the economy of the country (Guhathakurta & Rajeevan, 2006; Naidu et al., 2015; Parthasarathy et al., 1994; Turner & Annamalai, 2012). The strong influence of the Tropical Ocean on the variability of ISMR has been studied and epitomized by the El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO) phenomena (Shukla, 1987; Sikka, 1980; Webster & Yang, 1992). ENSO is a phenomenon of coupled ocean-atmosphere used to explain unusual climatic and weather patterns and also disrupt the ecosystem, agriculture, tropical cyclone, drought and flood, and other extreme weather events across the globe. The large-scale ocean-atmosphere climate interaction is linked to the periodic warming in the sea surface temperature (SST) across central and east equatorial Pacific Ocean termed as El Nino.
