Rain attenuation and worst month statistics verification and modeling for 5G radio link system at 26 GHz in Malaysia

Abstract: The explosive daily dependence on wireless communication services necessitates the research to establish ultrawideband communication systems with ultrahigh bit rate transmission capabilities. The advent of the fifth-generation (5G) microwave link transmitting at millimeter-wave (mm-wave) frequency band is a promising technology to accommodate the escalating demand for wireless services. In this frequency band, however, the behavior of the transmission channel and its climatic properties are a major concern. Th… Show more

“…• Once 5G technology is widely deployed in Malaysia, the current study can be extended to include the performance of 5G MBB service providers to recognise its superiority in comparison to older MBB generations. This will be beneficial since 5G implementation is based on millimetre-wave bands characterised by high path loss and small cell size support [58][59][60]65].…”

“…The case becomes more critical with 5G networks and beyond. This is due to the use of the mm-wave, which provides very small coverage [57][58][59][60][61][62][63]. In addition, adjusting the entire handover margin may create one of these issues as well.…”

“…But, 6G and some satellite systems operate based on mm-wave bands. That will raise mobility issues [57][58][59]. Therefore, studying selfoptimization techniques with such networks will be one of the significant research targets that need to be conducted in future.…”
