Radon-fractional ambiguity function-based detection method of low-observable maneuvering target

Abstract: Based on the quadratic frequency modulated (FM) signal of a maneuvering target, a novel long-time coherent integration method, i.e., Radon-fractional ambiguity function (RFRAF), is proposed to compensate the range and Doppler migrations simultaneously. By the long-time instantaneous autocorrelation function and rotating the time-frequency plane, the observation values of a maneuvering target can be well matched and accumulated as a peak in the RFRAF domain. Results of experiments with simulated and real data p… Show more

“…In the above equation, 1 is the amplitude after pulse compression and denotes the system bandwidth. The range between radar and target in radial direction varies with the slow time and can usually be expressed as a polynomial function of , which can be expanded into Taylor series [16], that is,…”

“…In consideration of maneuvering targets, generalized RFT (GRFT) [10,13] was also defined for targets with arbitrary parameterized motion. Based on the idea of GRFT, a lot of work has been done recently [14][15][16][17]. Actually, the GRFT suffers from heavy computational burden and is impractical without fast implementations because of the multidimensional ergodic search.…”

“…Radar is widely used in military and civilian surveillance because of its ability of working at all-time and under all-weather conditions [1,2,3,4,5,6]. Generally speaking, target detection, parameter estimation and target imaging are the three most important functions of modern radars [7,8,9], where the performance of target detection and parameter estimation will significantly affect the imaging quality for the target [10,11,12]. Therefore, how to improve the performances of target detection and parameter estimation have become important topics in radar research [13,14,15].…”
