“…In the northern region, radon concentration levels have been measured at nine locations (cities or towns): Soum region (Abumurad, 2005), Irbid city (Al-Kofahi, 1992), Malka town (Al-Zubaidy, 2012b), Hakama town (Al-Zubaidy, 2012a), Ajloun city , Ajloun district (Al-Khateeb, 2012), Jerash city including the historical part (Alzoubi, 2013), Jerash city and the northern part of the Jordan Valley (Kullab, 2005). In this region, the minimum indoors, measured mean value of radon concentration levels in air was 16.21 Bq.m Measurements in the middle region of Jordan have been performed at the following locations: As-Salt suburbs (Ya'qoub, 2009), As-Salt city , Mafraq city (Al-Zubaidy, 2012), Amman , Zarka city (Kullab, 2005) (Elzain, 2011), Al-Ruseifa (Kullab, 2005) (Kullab, 2001), Madaba city and Dead Sea (Al-Taj, 2004) (Al-Bataina, 2005 (Akawwi, 2014).…”

“…In this research indoor radon concentration in 45% of the basements, 35% of the ground *loors and 5% (only one sample) of the *irst *loors was above the WHO reference level (100 Bq m -3 ) and all of the samples from second and upper *loors were lower than 100 Bq m -3 . Higher concentration of indoor radon in lower *loors has been reported by other researchers as well (27,41,42) Direct contact with soil, plays an important role in increasing indoor radon concentration, because of the exhalation rate of radon from the *loors, which depends on subsoil characteristics (43) .…”

“…According to other researchers [6,11,29], the calibration factor for the provided LR-115 type II detector is 0.021 tr cm -2 d -1 = 1 Bq m -3 , which was used to translate the recorded track density (tracks cm -2 day -1 ) into Rn concentration in Bq m -3 . The following equation [3,12,19] has been used to compute the effective Ra content (CRa in Bq kg -1 ):…”
