“…The finding of antibodies to dsDNA in patient 3, with their disappearance after drug discontinuation, supports the latter concept. Although uncommon in patients with drug-induced lupus, antibodies to native DNA have nevertheless been reported (14,30,31), and are sometimes attributed to problems with the assay (32-34). Yet, even with our reservations concerning the diagnosis in patient 3, her strong family history of epilepsy, the occurrence of seizures 23 years before the onset of lupus, and the disappearance of the ANA, the hernatologic abnormalities, and all of the lupus-like symptoms after the drug was withdrawn, as well as the continued remission of the symptoms (except for seizures) during 14 years of followup, make druginduced lupus the most likely explanation.…”
