Quick gas chromatographic method for determining common pesticides in musts and wines

Abstract: SummaryA rapid method based on gas chromatography which determines parathion-methyl, fenitrothion, chlorpyrifos, dichlofluanid, vinclozolin, chlozolinate, procymidone and iprodione is described. It involves quantitative extraction with n-hexane and determination by capillary gas chromatography using an electron capture detector. Pesticides were satisfactorily separated in 15 rain with a phenylmethylsilicone fused-silica capillary column under isothermal conditions. Quantitation was carried out using dieldrin a… Show more

“…The method commonly used is solid-liquid extraction as a prior isolation step, with solvents such as acetonitrile, hexane, acetone, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate or solvent mixtures as dichloromethane/ acetone (Sala et al 1997;Cabras et al 2000b;Angioni et al 2005;De Melo Abreu et al 2006;Likas et al 2007). Some studies also consider the use of solidphase extraction (SPE) as a further purification process (Ferna´ndez Gonza´lez et al 2003;Rial Otero et al 2003;Teixeira et al 2004).…”

“…Samples were respectively spiked at 20.0, 2.0, 5.0 and 20.0 mg L −1 with metalaxyl, penconazol, pyrimethanil and dichlofluanid. Sala et al proposed the use of concentrations ten times greater than the MRLs,15 but this study could not be performed in the case of pyrimethanil and dichlofluanid because these compounds caused saturation in the detector at the suggested concentrations.…”

“…However, the most commonly used treatment method for liquid samples is liquid–liquid extraction (LLE) with organic solvents. Acetonitrile, hexane, dichloromethane or ethyl acetate are the most used 15–20…”

“…Since the CP molecule can be determined sensitively by using ECD, this detector was the choice for the analysis of this pesticide in grape and wine samples [35][36][37][38]. The calibration studies were conducted by injecting the standard solutions containing both CP and CPO into the column to determine dynamic ranges, limit of detection and limit of quantification of the GC-ECD method.…”
