Science education essentially involves students in a systematic scientific investigation. SPS can be developed in sciencebased learning so that students can use it as a basic skill to master science. 100 students of class VIII of Junior High school in the first year were the samples used in this research. Purposive sampling was used to determine the sample in this research. The SPS test kit (SPSTI) is used to determine the SPS profile of junior high school students on the substance pressure material. Indicators in the SPSTI consist of 8 types. The instruments in this research have been declared valid and reliable by experts consisting of 3 experts. The implementation of this research describes the SPS profile of junior high school students, especially in the matter of substance pressure, in general, is still at a very low level. The results of this research can be evidence for future research of SPS subjects for substance pressure materials in junior.high.school.students' that need to be improved.

The effectiveness of animal physiology practical book based on guided inquiry model is the essential factor to acievement student understending a about animal physiology concepts. The purpose of this study was to observe the effectiveness of animal physiology practical book based on guided inquiry model in Padang State University. The variables measured were affective, cognitive, psychomotor, and students’ activities. The data of this pre-experimental research were analyzed using averaged, percentage and standardized with Institutional assessment criteria. The results showed that the mean values were: 90.56 for affective competency (Criteria A), 82 for knowledge (Criteria A), and 89.66 for skills (Criteria A). Meanwhile, the percentage of student activities was 90.74% with very active category. It can be concluded that the effectiveness of practical book based on guided inquiry model was very effective to optimized student competences.

Science process skills are mostly researched in previous studies, but specifically for students in Papua, these skills have not become the main focus to be fostering. Inquiry learning is present as alternative learning to train students’ process skills. The research aims to foster the student process skill through inquiry science learning implementation. The research was a quasi-experimental method. Non-equivalent control group design was used. Data was collected using process skill tests. N-gain and independent t-test were used for data analysis. It was revealed that the process skill of student in the inquiry-based learning class was better compared to students in the conventional class (p <0.05). Science inquiry-based learning is better fostering science process skills indicator, that is observing, formulate a problem, formulate a hypothesis, and communicating. It can be concluded that for fostering student process skills, inquiry-based science learning is the right choice. it is better compared with conventional learning.
