Quantitative determination of dopamine in single rat pheochromocytoma cells by microchip electrophoresis with only one high‐voltage power supply

Abstract: We developed a method for the direct identification of dopamine in single cultured rat pheochromocytoma cells by capillary electrophoresis using an end-channel carbon fiber nanoelectrode amperometric detector. The operation mode was designed to achieve single-cell injection and lysis in microfluidic chip electrophoresis with only one high-voltage power supply. The separation and detection conditions were optimized. Four catecholamines were baseline-separated and determined with this system, and the cell densit… Show more

“…To date, a variety of analytical methods, such as electrochemistry [9][10] , capillary electrophoresis [11][12] , chemiluminescence 13) , and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) [14][15] , have been developed for DA detection. Although the abovementioned strategies offer efficient and sensitive DA sensing technologies, they face certain constraints of complex procedure, consuming time, and special equipment, thus further development is needed to achieve the practical requirements of convenient and accurate determination for DA.…”

“…Recently, several original papers showed the great diversity of novel methodologies of DA determination . Nevertheless, their usefulness is hampered by the high costs of analysis and the physicochemical properties of DA, an aliphatic amine which can be easily protonated and in consequence can be soluble in polar solvents .…”
