Quantification of Road Vehicle Performance Parameters Under Laboratory Conditions

Abstract: Engine performance of any kind of road vehicle is considered a fundamental parameter when selecting or comparing vehicles. It affects a number of operating characteristics including, for instance, vehicle maximum speed or vehicle acceleration. A vehicle manufacturer provides the data on performance in the technical description, however, engine performance value is specified in the vehicle registration certificate as well. Engine performance is indicated as the maximum engine output at certain engine speed. Thu… Show more

“…Measuring of the engine power and torque was done by cylinder test station MAHA MSR 1050. The measurement accuracy is ±2% from the overall value of power measured [25]. While measuring the course of the engine power and torque's curves, a vehicle gradually reaches the maximum engine speed when having the penultimate gear used and acceleration pedal fully applied, and thus, it can be the course of cylinder power's curve determined.…”

“…MAHA MSR 1050 s functions include a calculation of change in power on the basis of the change in the ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure. Thus, a change in the temperature or pressure in the laboratory does not affect the measurement results [31].…”
