Objective: To analyze factors related to the quality of life of elderly people living with HIV/AIDS. Method: A cross-sectional study was carried out with people aged 50 years or more in a specialized outpatient clinic. The data collection was by means of an interview. For the analysis of data and characterization of the sample, descriptive statistics and comparison tests were used. The project met the ethical requirements. Results: Participants were 81 users aged 50 to 75 years, mean age was 57.8 (± 6.1) years, 71.6% of whom were men. There was a statistically signifi cant relationship with the quality of life, the following variables: gender, children, occupation, religion, diagnosis time, HIV exposure, adverse effects, treatment interruption, viral load counts, hospitalization, dependence for daily activities and use of drugs. Conclusion: The results suggest that the quality of life defi cit is related not only to physical changes, but to the anguish and stigma related to HIV/AIDS. RESUMO Objetivo: Analisar os fatores relacionados com a qualidade de vida de idosos vivendo com HIV/aids. Método: Estudo transversal realizado com pessoas de idade igual ou superior a 50 anos em um ambulatório especializado. A coleta de dados foi por meio de entrevista. Para a análise dos dados e caracterização da amostra, utilizou-se da estatística descritiva e testes de comparação. O projeto atendeu às exigências éticas. Resultados: Participaram 81 usuários de 50 a 75 anos, cuja média foi 57,8 (±6,1) anos, sendo 71,6% homens. Houve relação estatisticamente signifi cante com a qualidade de vida, as seguintes variáveis: sexo, fi lhos, ocupação, religião, tempo de diagnóstico, exposição ao HIV, efeitos adversos, interrupção do tratamento, contagem de carga viral, internação, dependência para atividades diárias e uso de drogas. Conclusão: Os resultados sugerem que o défi cit de qualidade de vida não está ligado apenas às mudanças físicas, mas às angustias e ao estigma relacionado ao HIV/aids. OBJECTIVE To graspthe AIDS social representations built by freedom-deprived women. METHOD Descriptive study with a quali-quantitative approach that involved 174 convicted women in a women's prison in a capital city of the Brazilian northeastern region. Aword-association test was applied in October and November 2014, using AIDS as a stimulus. The corpuswas processed usingIramuteq software. Descending Hierarchical Classification and Correspondence Factor Analysis were applied. RESULTS The content that comprises the social representation of AIDS was influenced by the prison context, which was pervaded by a lack of assistance, lack of knowledge, discrimination, and suffering that disclosed vulnerability to HIV/AIDS factors such as unprotected sex and object sharing. This underlines the stigma and fear of the illness, in addition to favoring and supporting negative feelings and a sense of rejection. CONCLUSION To consider the use of this representational amalgam to ensure a comprehensive, contextualized care can help redirect practices, motivate self-care practices, and reduce prejudiced attitudes.

Objective: To know the sources of information of adolescents living with HIV/AIDS that define learning about sexuality. Methods:A qualitative study was performed in a Specialized Care Service of a city in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Southern Brazil, with 15 adolescents living with HIV/AIDS. A semi-structured interview and thematic analysis were used. Results: Adolescents have built up their knowledge about sexuality, especially through relationships with friends and older family members, or through access to media sources. Schools and health services were spaces for sharing information about biological aspects of sexuality. Conclusion:Nurses need to address adolescent sexuality beyond the biological dimension and support it through critical and dialogical health education.Keywords: Sexuality; Adolescent; Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome; Adolescent Health; Nursing. Se utilizó entrevista semi-estructurada y análisis temático.Resultados: Los adolescentes han construido sus conocimientos sobre la sexualidad a través de las relaciones con los amigos, con un miembro de la familia mayor que ellos, o el acceso a los medios de comunicación. La escuela y el servicio de salud fueron espacios para la socialización de informaciones relativas a los aspectos biológicos de la sexualidad. Conclusión: Las enfermeras necesitan abordar la sexualidad de los adolescentes más allá de la dimensión biológica y apoyarla en la educación en salud crítica y dialógica.
