“…An explanation may be decreased sensory function as demonstrated by heat stimulus tests among elderly [27]. Reduced risk of chronic postherniorrhaphy pain is a factor supporting operative treatment among elderly especially since their quality of life gains are similar to younger patients' [28].…”

“…QoL studies regarding treatment of inguinal hernia have confirmed significant improvements in several of the eight dimensions of RAND-36 in both patients over and under 65 years of age [16][17][18]. Thus far, no hernioplasty-related QoL-changes have been reported in patients specifically with a painful inguinal hernia.…”

“…There are indirect data that TEP repair of inguinal hernia may improve QoL measures more than open mesh repair [18]. Pierides and colleagues [16] have shown that open mesh repair for inguinal hernia improves RAND-36 values constantly in bodily pain and physical function and less consistently in role functioning/physical and social functioning. In our study, improvement was reached in bodily pain, physical function and role functioning/physical.…”

“…Harichandrkumar et al studied QOL of lymphatic filariasis with or without hydroceIe using EuroQol and it was found that all domains QOL were affected in patients with hydrocele (1 (5). Changes in QOL after surgical repair of inguinal hernia were assessed using generic instruments such as RAND-36 and SF 36 (5,6,7,8). Carolina comfort scale is a specific instrument that was developed to assess post surgical condition of hernia patient (9).…”
