Background. In daily inspection, the nonstandard management of sterile articles in clinical departments of hospitals often leads to the destruction of the sterilization effectiveness of sterile articles. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen governance and improve this phenomenon. This study intends to investigate the mode in which the disinfection supply center participates in the supervision and management of the management of sterile items in clinical departments. It played a role in improving the standardization of the management of sterile articles in clinical departments and ensured the closed-loop management of the sterilization effectiveness of sterile articles. Methods. Every quarter, the disinfection supply center of our hospital will inspect the standardized management of sterile articles in all clinical departments of the hospital, mainly including the storage environment and facilities of sterile articles, the cleanliness of storage cabinets, placement principles, whether they are stored by category, and the quality and validity management of sterile articles. The quarterly inspection results were summarized and analyzed to find the existing problems and the causes. The disinfection supply center shall supervise the improvement. After the disinfection supply center inspected the standardized management of sterile articles in all clinical departments of the hospital for the first time according to the inspection contents, under the guidance and assistance of the nursing department and the hospital infection department, it improved the sterile article management system, conducted knowledge training for the whole hospital, and incorporated the standardized management of clinical sterile articles into the quality control inspection of the nursing department. In the later stage, the disinfection supply center is responsible for conducting routine inspection and supervision on the standardized management of sterile articles in all clinical departments of the hospital every quarter according to the inspection contents, including summarizing, analyzing, and urging the clinical departments to achieve the improvement of the management of sterile articles in clinical departments. Results. The standardization of aseptic articles after improvement was significantly higher than before and during improvement, and the qualified rate was significantly different (99.4% vs 97.9% vs 89.5%, P < 0.05 ). The average number of lost packages caused by nonstandard management in the department was significantly reduced. The average rate of lost sterile packages during and after the improvement was significantly lower than that before the improvement (10.5% vs 97.9% vs 89.5%, P < 0.05 ). It also effectively reduced the cost caused by the loss of sterile packages. Conclusion. The disinfection supply center participates in the quality control and management of sterile articles in the nursing department and regularly inspects and supervises the management of sterile articles in clinical departments. It can effectively improve the standardized management of sterile articles in clinical departments, ensure the safety of sterile articles, and form a closed loop of sterilization effectiveness.

Background. The central sterile supply department (CSSD) is wrongly seen as a place in the hospital environment that does not require skills and physical effort, being commonly a hospital sector for the relocation of functionally-readapted professionals. However, CSSD is a work environment that demands professional experience and presents itself as a sector that does not have a healthy work environment. This study aims to evaluate the frequency of comorbidities and functionally-readapted people among nursing professionals allocated to a CSSD and, also, to seek the perception of these professionals about the ergonomic risks and the degree of difficulty to perform activities within a CSSD. Methods. This is a cross-sectional study that analyzed the opinions of nursing professionals who work in the CSSD of public hospitals in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Nurses, nursing technicians and nursing assistants aged ≥18 years were included. Results. Seventy-two nursing professionals were consecutively evaluated. It was observed that 43 of them (59.7%) had never worked in a CSSD. The most prevalent comorbidity in the present study was chronic rhinosinusitis, observed in more than half of the sample, although it is interesting to note the high frequency of participants with work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSD) and repetitive strain injuries (RSI). There is a relationship between previous work in a CSSD and the ability to identify surgical tweezers by visual recognition ( p = 0.031 ). There is a relationship between the time the participant had previously worked in the hospital and the skill regarding the information contained in the conference folders for preparing the tray surgical procedures (τb = −0.34, p = 0.001 ). Conclusion. Almost a third of nursing professionals working in a CSSD are rehabilitated, with a high prevalence of WMSD and RSI. The commitment of managers to an internal health policy aimed at workers is necessary for health promotion.

INTRODUÇÃO: Os profissionais que atuam na central de material e esterilização (CME) possuem a função de recepcionar, limpar, esterilizar, embalar e armazenar utensílios utilizados em cirurgias no hospital. Trata-se assim, de uma profissão de grande exigência física e mental, com alta carga de trabalho e estresse. OBJETIVO: analisar os riscos biomecânicos e os sintomas osteomioarticulares de servidores da CME de um complexo hospitalar público. Materiais e MÉTODOS: um estudo observacional, prospectivo que foi desenvolvido em um hospital público do sul do país. Participaram 20 profissionais, tais como auxiliares, técnicos e enfermeiros. Os critérios de inclusão foram que o indivíduo atuasse na CME, ser auxiliar, técnico ou enfermeiro da CME ao menos a 6 meses, idade igual ou maior que 18 anos, de ambos os sexos e exercer qualquer função. Os critérios de exclusão, foram estar em período de férias ou licença saúde/capacitação no período de coleta de dados, trabalhar no setor a menos de 6 meses. Instrumentos de coleta: questionário sociodemográfico, internacional de atividade física (IPAQ) - versão curta e o Nórdico de Sintomas Osteomusculares. Resultados: Verificou-se que 85% dos profissionais são do sexo feminino; a idade média foi de 47 anos; 70% são auxiliares de enfermagem; 85% dos profissionais possuem filhos; 35% apresentaram dores em pescoço, punhos/mãos e quadril/coxas; 85% sentem dores de cabeça recorrentes; 50% já sofreram algum acidente de trabalho, sendo 80% com perfurocortantes. CONCLUSÃO: conclui-se que os servidores de CME tem riscos biomecânicos e ocupacionais, medidas preventivas devem ser adotadas para minimizar riscos à saúde física e mental dos mesmos.
