“…The administration of the intended doses of vincristine might have resulted in an even stronger difference of the observed QoL outcomes--playing in favour of the experimental TEC regimen. Nevertheless, quality of life has been suggested to constitute a prognostic factor for survival in lung cancer [33]. The QoL results of our study back the observed survival advantage as well as the decrease of grade 3/4 non-haematological toxicities.…”

“…This minimally important difference in emotional well-being is 2-3 points [34], a change of 1.8 points in this study, shows a trend towards clinical significance and needs to be investigated through further studies. It has been suggested [35] that an improved HRQOL, including emotional well-being, is a prognostic factor for survival in patients with advanced lung cancer although no studies have demonstrated improvement in general HRQOL in patients with lung cancer with advanced disease. This indicates that these patients are in a life situation (a five-year overall survival rate of 9%) in which it may be unrealistic to expect that 6 weeks of physical training could improve their HRQOL.…”

“…An ongoing challenge will be to make QOL assessment easy to incorporate into individual patient care. Several QOL dimensions must be addressed while caring for cancer patients [29]. It is anticipated that cancer care will optimize the QOL of patients throughout the course of their illness.…”
