Quality Control of Structural Parameters (CELL POPULATION DATA) of Sysmex XN Series

Abstract: INTRODUCTION: Cell population data (CPD) measured by hematology analyzers (HA) describe morphological parameters of white blood cell (WBC) subpopulations and are reported to be as useful parameters in the screening of several hematological and non-hematological diseases. The Sysmex XN is an HA that uses fluorescence flow cytometry for WBC differential, combining forward scatter (FSC), side scatter (SSC) and fluorescence intensity (SFL) to identify WBC populations. These three measures, along wit… Show more

“…they can expand the potential information from CBC 8,9 . The Cell Population Data (CPD) generated from these analyzers provides various blood cell parameters and have proved its usefulness in the screening of hematological and non-hematological diseases 10 . The literature has provided successful examples of utilizing clinical information using CPD parameters for diagnosis and management of infectious diseases, such as Sepsis 9,10 .…”

“…These procedures should be useful in monitoring analyzer performances over the time and the concordance of results among all of them. [21] Including average of normal into the daily QC becomes more important when control materials are lacking. [22,23] In summary, we conclude that NEUT-WY could be a reliable test for the diagnosis of acute bacterial infection and, in conjunction with clinical and analytical data, can aid in discriminating the etiology of fever.…”
