Quality and perceived usefulness of process models

Abstract: Modeling is now an essential ingredient in business process management and information systems development. The general usefulness of models in these areas is therefore generally accepted. It is also undisputed that the quality of the models has a significant impact on their usefulness. In the literature we can find any number of quality metrics, but hardly any study that investigates their relation with (perceived) usefulness and none that considers their relative impact on usefulness. We take a look at some … Show more

“…Advantages of using business process models are, for example, obtaining a common understanding of a company's business processes [2], or enabling the discovery of improvement opportunities [3]. Literature emphasizes that a good understanding of a process model has positive influence on the success of a modeling initiative [4].…”

“…Many theories and practical experiments have been established to evaluate IS through a post-implementation process using Usefulness as parameter. Examples include the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM -Davis 1989) and its variants (Lucas & Spitler 1999), the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB -Gordon 2006), the analysis of acceptability of a computer system (Nielsen 1993), and the analysis of model quality (Rittgen 2010).…”
