Qualitative methods of analysis: an example of Atlas.TI™ Software usage

Abstract: Atlas.ti™ provides useful analytical resources in academic research, particularly for social science disciplines. This technical report presents a case study utilizing a CAQDAS package, as example of research, to show how to utilize Atlas.ti™ version 7. This will serve as a practical guide for qualitative researchers who are beginning to use CAQDAS Atlas.ti™.Design/methodology/approach: Atlas.ti™ software is required to disclose an academic study data introduction, analysis and retrieval outcomes about how com… Show more

“…The qualitative analytical procedure consisted of eight steps: 1 – Complete reading of the formatted transcription files (in “*.docx” format); 2 – Classification as described in the section entitled “Research Context and Design”; 3 – Export the 32 files to the Rich Format Text format (*.rtf) so that the Atlas.ti analysis software can import them (Ronzani et al. , 2020); 5 – Import the 32 files outlined in step 4; 6 – Continue coding in Atlas.ti, as begun in step 2; 7 – Analysis of categories using Atlas.ti tools and; 8 – Extraction of analysis reports and encodings.…”

“…Table 2 shows the 13 articles used in the study. The 13 articles selected for synthesis were coded using ATLAS.ti.23, a software used to code and analyze research articles (Ronzani et al, 2020). The coding of data is crucial in research and should be done with rigor and transparency because codes allow researchers to organize, structure, and interpret their observations of primary data into meaningful findings (Romano et al, 2003).…”
