Objective: to analyze the association between socio-occupational characteristics, stress level, and quality of life in hospital Nursing workers. Method: a cross-sectional, quantitative study, with data collected by means of a socio-occupational questionnaire to survey the profile of the workers, the Bianchi Stress Scale to assess stress, and the WHOQOL-Bref to assess quality of life. Results: 180 Nursing workers participated in the research, being 49 nurses and 131 Nursing technicians and assistants, most of them women, predominantly aged up to 35 years old, married, and with up to three years of experience in the sector. In general, the participants presented medium stress level, with a higher level among the nurses, and greater satisfaction with the quality of life level related to the physical (65.6%), psychological (64.7%), and social relationships (67.9%) domains. This study identified significant associations between stress and quality of life in hospital Nursing workers. Conclusion: it was demonstrated that there was an association between stress and quality of life, and the greater the stress, the lower the quality of life in hospital Nursing workers.

Método: estudo descritivo, exploratório, de abordagem quantitativa, realizado com 54 trabalhadores de enfermagem. Para a coleta de dados, utilizou-se questionário estruturado contendo características sociodemográficas e ocupacionais, a versão brasileira do Self Reporting Questionnaire-20 e o Demand Control Support Questionnaire. Resultados: a proporção de Distúrbios Psíquicos Menores foi de 24,1%. Em relação aos aspectos psicossociais, foram predominantemente classificados como desenvolvendo um trabalho com baixa demanda psicológica (63,0%), baixo controle (70,4%) e baixo apoio social (72,2%). Das variáveis investigadas, apresentaram associação estatisticamente significativa com o desfecho o sexo feminino e o controle no trabalho. Conclusão: os resultados evidenciaram a proporção de 24,1% para os Distúrbios Psíquicos Menores nos trabalhadores de enfermagem do local estudado; quanto aos fatores associados, o sexo feminino e o controle no trabalho apresentaram associação significativa com o desfecho. Objective: analyzing the proportion of Minor Psychological Disorders in nursing workers in a Surgical Ward and the factors associated with these disorders. Method: descriptive, exploratory, and quantitative study, carried out with 54 nursing workers. For data collection, this study used a structured questionnaire with sociodemographic and occupational characteristics, the Brazilian version of the Self-Reporting Questionnaire-20 and the Demand Control Support Questionnaire. Results: the proportion of Minor Psychological Disorders was 24.1%. The psychosocial aspects were mostly classified as developing a work with a low psychological burden (63.0%), low control (70.4%), and low social support (72.2%). The variables female sex and control at work presented statistically significant correlations to the outcome. Emotional intelligence: influencing factors and impact on nurses in intensive care

Objective: to analyze the evidence on the factors that influence the emotional intelligence of intensive care nurses. Methods: systematic review of the literature. We used the databases CINAHL Complete, Academic Search Complete, MedicLatina, Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection, MedLine with Full Text (via EBSCO HOST), MedLine Complete (via PubMed), SCOPUS and other sources, such as Google Scholar, clinical trial registration sites and manual/cross-references search. A total of 1,307 articles were published until April 2018, and nine were included in the study. Results: the factors that influenced nurses' emotional intelligence were age, sex, emotional experience, training and personality; and the impact of emotional intelligence was translated on a personal, professional and caring level. Conclusion: the practice of nursing in intensive care units is influenced by the nurse's emotional intelligence. This intelligence is affected by several factors and, because it is learned, must be stimulated in formative contexts. Descriptors: Emotional Intelligence; Critical Care; Nursing. Objetivo: analisar as evidências sobre os fatores que influenciam a inteligência emocional dos enfermeiros de cuidados intensivos. Métodos: revisão sistemática da literatura. Foram encontrados 1.307 artigos publicados até abril de 2018, sendo incluídos nove. Resultados: os fatores que influenciaram a inteligência emocional dos enfermeiros foram a idade, sexo, experiência emocional, formação e personalidade; e o impacto da inteligência emocional traduziu-se a nível pessoal, profissional e no cuidar. Conclusão: a prática de enfermagem em unidades de cuidados intensivos é influenciada pela inteligência emocional do enfermeiro. Esta inteligência é afetada por diversos fatores e, por ser apreendida, deve ser estimulada em contextos formativos.
