“…It was observed the nanofibers yielded the best photocatalytic performance, 99 % in 75 min corresponding to a reaction rate constant of 0.0736 min −1 due to the large strain produced by the high aspect ratio of the nanofiber in contrast to nanoparticles and nanocubes. To demonstrate the effect of pyroelectricity on the oxidation of the dichlorofluorescein redox assay, two different sizes of nano‐ and microparticles of BaTiO 3 were poled [157] . A change in the phase composition and domain structure due to a change in particle size influenced the poling effect (accounting for nearly 247 % increment).…”

“…To expound on this, we focus on recently published papers specifically related to energy harvesting using nominally pure, doped and heterostructured BaTiO 3 nanoparticles. For example, the BPVEaided, [147][148][149] piezoelectric-induced, [150][151][152][153][154] and pyroelectricinduced catalysis [13,[153][154][155][156][157] have all been demonstrated to be viable for the photocatalytic generation of hydrogen, degradation of pollutants, and disinfection of microbes. Huang et al [149] fabricated a heterojunction of polar BaTiO 3 and CdS for hydrogen evolution, where the latter absorbs in the visible region.…”
