PV/BESS to support electric vehicle charging station integration in a capacity constrained power distribution grid using MCTLBO

Abstract: Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems with backup battery energy storage system (BESS) mitigate power system related issues like ever-increasing load demand, power loss, voltage deviation and need for power system up-gradation as integration of electric vehicles (EVs)increases load while charging. This paper investigates the improvements of the system parameters like voltage, power loss and loading capabilities of IEEE-69 bus radial distribution system (RDS) with PV/BESS-powered EV charging stations (CSs). The RDS i… Show more

“…The results prove the effectiveness of simultaneous allocation of RESs and EV parking lots over the independent allocation of distributed energy resources and EV parking lots. In [32], author proposes the improvements of voltage profile, power loss and loading capabilities of IEEE-69 bus radial distribution system with PV/battery energy storage system (BESS)-powered EV charging stations. An energy management strategy has been introduced to direct the power flow among the EVCS, solar panel, BESS and the utility grid based on time of use of electricity price.…”

“…Optimal scheduling of G2V and V2G has been performed and CS's locations have been found out in [53]. The battery energy storages have been considered along with EV and EVCS in [54][55][56][57]. Researchers in [58][59][60] have been used various optimization techniques to plan the CS and distributed renewable generation by minimizing the power loss, cost, etc.…”
